Privacy policy

Colour Within is an adult paint-by-numbers app for iPad, developed by the Colour Within team. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the app and why.

What we collect

The app integrates third-party SDKs (Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform) that may collect the following data on our behalf when you use the ad-supported tier. Each item corresponds to a row in our App Privacy declaration on the App Store.

• Coarse location — an approximate geographic area (not precise GPS coordinates) used by Google Mobile Ads to serve regionally appropriate advertisements.
• Performance data — aggregated metrics about how the app performs on your device, such as load times and frame rates, used to improve app quality.
• Crash data — internal diagnostic reports the Google Mobile Ads SDK generates when its own ad-rendering code encounters errors, used by Google to maintain ad delivery reliability.
• Other diagnostic data — supplementary technical data the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects alongside its own crash and performance signals, such as memory usage and system version.
• Advertising data — identifiers and signals used by Google Mobile Ads to measure ad delivery and effectiveness, collected only when the ad-supported tier is active and ATT permission has been granted.
• Product interaction — anonymised records of in-app actions (such as starting a colouring session or browsing the gallery) used to understand which features are most useful, via TelemetryDeck's privacy-first analytics SDK.
• Device ID — an advertising identifier (IDFA) used by Google Mobile Ads when ATT permission has been granted; used to limit ad frequency and attribute conversions.

What stays on your device

Your drawings and colouring sessions are stored entirely on your device. Colour Within does not transmit your artwork, colouring progress, or drawing strokes to any server. The on-device drawing and area-painting features do not collect or upload any user-generated content.

Ad-supported tier

When you use the free, ad-supported tier of Colour Within, Google Mobile Ads and Google User Messaging Platform are active. These SDKs may collect Coarse Location, Advertising Data, and Device ID as described above, subject to App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. If you decline ATT, personalised advertising is not served and Advertising Data and Device ID are not collected.

We use the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to present the required consent dialogue in regions where GDPR or equivalent regulations apply. Your consent choices are stored on-device and respected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK.

Subscription tier

When you have an active Colour Within subscription, advertisements are fully suppressed and the Google Mobile Ads SDK is not loaded. In subscription mode, Advertising Data, Device ID, and Coarse Location data are not collected by the ad SDK. TelemetryDeck privacy-first analytics remain active to help improve the app, but do not collect personally identifiable information.

TelemetryDeck analytics

Colour Within uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-first analytics. TelemetryDeck does not collect personal data and is designed to be privacy-preserving by default. Signals sent include anonymised product interaction events (for example, session started or gallery browsed). TelemetryDeck's privacy policy is available at telemetrydeck.com/privacy.

Children

Colour Within is a general-audience app. It is not directed at children under 13 and is not listed in the App Store's Kids Category. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Data retention and deletion

Session and drawing data stored on your device can be deleted at any time by removing the app. Diagnostic data the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects internally (Crash Data, Performance Data, Other Diagnostic Data) is retained by Google in accordance with Google's own data retention policies. TelemetryDeck retains anonymised signals for the period described in their privacy policy. Colour Within deliberately does not embed Firebase Crashlytics or any other third-party crash reporter — the only crash data we receive about the app itself comes through iPadOS, and only if you opted in to share diagnostic data with developers when you set up your iPad.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. To exercise these rights, or to request deletion of any data associated with your use of the app, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
