What changed in each version of Colour Within, newest first. These are the same notes that appear on the App Store. To get the latest version, open the App Store on your iPad.
Version 1.2.1 16 October 2026
You can now style the highlight that shows where your selected colour goes. Switch its border and background on or off separately, then tap Customise to choose their colours, line style and pattern.
Area numbers are easier to read. Each number is drawn in whichever colour stands out best against its area, and the background pattern fades away behind it. Some large areas that had no number now show one.
Timelapses can now play with music. Each finished page gets a short piece chosen for it, and the music stays with the video when you share it. Videos you've already made don't change, and you can turn music off in Settings.
When you come back to Colour Within, it reopens the page you were colouring.
If you'd like to leave a rating, there's a Rate Colour Within link in Settings, under About.
Buttons and switches are easier to read in dark mode, and pages open and zoom more reliably.
This update also fixes a small issue behind the scenes.

Version 1.1.0 28 September 2026
When you finish a page, Colour Within now makes a short timelapse of it that you can watch on the finished page or in My Work, then save or share. Pages you'd already started get one too. Colouring from before this update wasn't recorded, so their timelapse starts from where the page is when you next open it. Timelapses are made on your iPad, and you can turn them off in Settings.
Almost every area will now show its number when you zoom in far enough, and the number moves within its area to stay in view as you pan or zoom in. The few areas too small for any number are filled in for you once you've coloured around them. If you'd rather colour those yourself, turn off Automatic Fill in Settings.
You can adjust the size of the numbers in Settings.
Colouring is smoother too, especially on older iPads and just after you install the app.
The Daily page now changes over at midnight, even if Colour Within is already open.

A quiet update with one important fix. A page you had started could be deleted if the app had trouble opening it. That no longer happens.

No new features this time, just behind the scenes housekeeping. The app should look and work exactly as it did before.

A quiet update, mostly fixes and small improvements.
- The library now refreshes in the background, so new artworks are ready when you open the app.
- The daily artwork updates are more reliable.
- Saving and sharing your finished work is more stable.
- If an artwork won't open, the app retries and shows a clear message instead of failing silently. If this happens to you and tapping retry doesn't fix it, please reach out to us for support.
- The Colour Within logo and website address added when sharing a finished page are easier to read.
